Halloween with Dermalogica!

Dermalogica is releasing a new product in their skincare lineup - Precleanse balm! I'm a huge fan of cleansing balms, and the double cleanse method - so when I was contacted to try Dermalogica's Double Cleanse campaign, how could I say no? And what a better time to put this new balm to the test, Halloween! Whether you're dressing up, or your kids are, that makeup is difficult to remove at the end of the night. You don't want to fight with it, and you definitely don't want any of that makeup left behind. Enter - Dermalogica Precleanse balm!

Deep cleansing balm-to-oil melts away impurities and make-up from skin. Achieve cleaner, healthier-looking skin with the Double Cleanse regimen that begins with PreCleanse Balm. This water-activated, balm-to-oil version of our top-selling oil cleanser deconstructs layers of excess sebum (oil), waterproof make-up, environmental pollutants and residual product buildup on skin. Use the included Cleansing Mitt to thoroughly cleanse debris from the skin's surface, allowing your recommended Dermalogica Cleanser to deliver more effective cleansing results. The Natural Biolipid Complex locks in hydration and reinforces the skin barrier while Apricot Kernel Oil helps nourish skin. Ideal for normal to dry skin. Safe for use around the eye area. Formulated without artificial fragrances or colors.

I decided to re-create a deer look for this halloween. Needing to practice - this was the first attempt. As you can see, I had black liner on my eyes, and I even placed it on my nose. There's even some black waterproof mascara on my lashes. Black liquid liner, and waterproof mascara, are more difficult to remove I find. So I was really putting the precleanse balm to the test.

This was such an easy look to re-create. Especially after work when you are in a hurry to get some makeup on. Whether it's to hand out candy, or while taking those trick-or-treaters out. And removing it, was even quicker.

First I applied an almond sized amount of the balm onto the provided cleansing mitt (this comes with the balm) and then gently swiped it on all areas of my face - cheeks, forehead, nose, chin. I then softly used circular motions with the mitt to work the balm on my skin, and lightly exfoliate as well. Once I felt like that was enough, I used my fingertips to work the balm in a little more, and go over my eye area. I rinsed off with warm water. I then went in with the special cleansing gel just to be sure that everything was washed away, and this is what my skin looked like...

Makeup free! There was a little bit of mascara under my eyes, but the mascara I was wearing (Too Faced - Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara) is very tricky to get off... so to see so little behind means the Dermologica Precleanse Balm and Special Cleansing Gel got everything off.

Overall, I really enjoyed this duo, especially the precleanse balm. They were both gentle, and didn't leave my skin feeling dry. These will be great to incorporate into my daily skincare routine. And I really love that the balm is in a tube - no mess!

  1. I haven't tried the double-cleanse method yet. I think a balm appeals more to me.
