Boxycharm - May 2017

Boxycharm is a subscription box service, that sends full size and deluxe sample size items to you each month. I've noticed majority of the time, you will get full sized products, and you receive 5 each month. It is $21 USD a month, plus shipping. There are discounts if you sign up for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. I originally signed up for 3 months, and it renewed for another 3 months automatically. Everyone generally gets the same box each month, with a few variations such as lipstick colours. Or a lipstick vs lip gloss. That being said, let's take a look at what I received for my May Boxycharm!

As you can see in the picture above, the theme of the month is Makeup Is Art. These change every month. On the back of these cards, is a breakdown of what is included in our boxes.

We have some interesting items to get to... so let's just get right in!

IBY Beauty - Highlight & Contour Palette (Retail Price $40.00)
Sculpt, define, and illuminate your features with the Highlight and Contour Palette. Chic and portable, this PRO-approved kit comes in 6 versatile shades.

There are 3 highlight shades, and 3 contour shades. It also comes with a little "instruction guide" on where you highlight and where you contour.

Of course I had to swatch it! I have to say that Highlight 1 & 2, are very sheer and pale. You can tell how pale I am, and they just blend into my skin. I could probably use these up as face powders, which is fine with me. The third highlight has more of a darker undertone which is more more noticeable (but barely)

I like the contour shades as well. Although Contour 3 is the darkest on me, I feel it has the coolest undertone and will work well to contour the skin. I think contour 2 might be too warm for me but we will see! I'm excited to play around with this. And I'm glad I got the powder over the cream contour they were sending out. I believe that the cream vs powder contour palettes were the only differences this month between boxes.

The BrowGal - Convertible Brow in 02 Brown (Retail Price $35.00)
The Convertible Brow is a powder/pomade duo that acts as a powder when used dry and a pomade when used wet to fill in and apply colour and definition to the brows. Each compact has a warm, neutral, and ash tone to allow you to mix your perfect, custom colour. If used wet, the palette will revert back to powder consistency, ensuring the product does not dry out.

The BrowGal - Brow Brush (Retail Price $14.00)
This double ended brow brush was designed to allow for precision and creating hair-like strokes, while filling in the brows.

I think in this, only the darkest shade would work in my brows. The first is definitely too warm. I didn't bother to swatch these because I will be passing them along, as well as the brow brush. I prefer a pencil or gel.

Crown Pro - Round Contour Brush (Retail Price $24.99)
This super soft paddle brush can be used with any liquid, powder, or cream product for a full coverage application.

This brush is really soft, and I've never used this style of brush before! I'm excited to give it a try!

Temptu - Liquid Glow (Retail Price $29.50)
In this limited edition collaboration with Boxycharm, Temptu introduces Liquid Glow, its first hand-applied highlighter. Formulated to deliver a radiantly luminous complexion, or to illuminate all over, this long-lasting formula is designed in a rose gold hue that flatters every skin tone and creates a natural, lit-from-within glow.

This is a really pretty highlighter, but I really can't see myself ever using it. It's a little darker than I would prefer. I'm probably going to pass it on, and someone else can give it the the love that it deserves!

I'd say I'm about 50/50 on the box. I like the contour palette, and am excited to use the round brush. But I'm not so excited about the brow product or temptu highlighter. I really hope I like the sneak peeks for June because if not, I feel like I may cancel my subscription for a little bit. But I have the fear of missing out, and I just know there will be an amazing box if I cancel. I have to do some thinking!
