Jeffree Star - Velour Liquid Lipstick

As you saw in my Beautylish Lucky Bag 2017, I received this Jeffree Star - Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini. Now, it looks like a beautiful colour, that would work well with many skin tones. Except mine. I didn't even bother to swatch mine on my skin, because from swatches online, I knew it would pull way too brown on me. I've tried with many other brands, and I didn't want it to go to "waste" if I could swap with someone else. So that's exactly what I did!

Luckily, in one of the swap groups I'm in, someone had also received a Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in their Beautylish bag. She told me she looked up swatches of the shade she received and she didn't like it, so she hadn't swatched hers either. She received Rose Matter, which is described as being a soft neutral coral and Gemini was described as a terra-cotta warm-toned nude. I managed to luck out, I was happy to see someone was willing to trade theirs with mine!

As you can see above, it is a doe foot applicator. But what's different about this one, is that it has somewhat of a deeper curve at the top. I find this makes it fit your lips better, if that makes any sense.
The description of this does say it is a coral, but I would say it leans a little more pink on me, which I really like. These do apply easily, but I found it didn't dry down as matte as the images online show. Beautylish website does recommend to avoid oil while wearing this, which is definitely true, because it will come off pretty much instantaneously. But overall, I am happier with this colour. Is it worth the $18 USD? I would say no, because I feel I could get something similar from Colourpop which is only $6 USD.
