September 2016 - Empties!

Yup! It's already that time of the month! The time to talk about my trash! I love these types of blog posts and videos. When you use everything up, you have an informed opinion as to whether something worked for you or not, unlike first impression posts. So, let's take a look at everything I used up in September.

I think I used up a good mix of products this month. Half way through the month I always feel as if I'm not getting through many products, then by the end of the month, I surprise myself. While it's not a huge amount, at least some items are being fully used.

Cotton Pads - I'm not entirely sure what the brand is for these. I picked them up at Dollarama. They aren't the greatest quality, but they get the job done. I picked up a few of these last time I was in there, so you will see them again in the future.

Pur-lisse - Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum
I received this in one of the beauty boxes I receive. I can't remember if it was Topbox, or Birchbox, or Luxebox. It was a thin lotion type of serum. It wore well under makeup. I would say though if I accidentally applied too much, it would get on my contact lenses during the day, and it was super annoying and hard to remove. I didn't find a difference in my under eye circles, or puffiness, but it was nice and hydrating. A full size is very expensive so I wouldn't purchase it. But I believe I have another sample size somewhere in my stash, so I will use that up once I'm done with another eye cream.

Mizon - Multi Function Formula - Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule
I remember first hearing about snails being in products and being grossed out. However I looked up the benefits and decided to give it a try. This ampoule was clear, but also kind of sticky. It straight up reminded me of goo! It was supposed to be for wrinkle care and skin repair. I didn't see a difference in my skin texture, and I don't have many wrinkles that are noticable. It did feel nice and hydrating once I applied it, but nothing spectacular. I would use this as a serum.

CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream
I found this hydrating enough to wear under my makeup. It didn't ball up like cetaphil does for me. Was it amazing? No, but it did the job throughout the day.

Tarte - Rainforest of the Sea - Marine Boosting Mist
This smelled great, and had a wide spray, however I also didn't find it did much for my skin. It was a small sample so I didn't get a long useage out of it. It felt nice as an inital mist, but I wouldn't purchase this as a full size item.

Biotin Vitamins
I saw that biotin was good for your hair, skin, and nails. It took me some time to get through this, and overall I would say I didn't see a difference in my hair. When I remembered to take it consistently though, I did notice my nails grew a little longer faster, BUT I would get a lot of breakouts. After some research, I did see biotin does cause breakouts in some people, so it could have been because of that. I'm not in a rush to repurchase these any time soon.

Beauty Protector - Protect and Detangle
This came in a Birchbox. It smells like Britney Spears Fantasy perfume, which is one of my favourites. I love to use this before using heat on my hair. A little goes a long way! I purchased a full size bottle back when Birchbox announced they were ending Canadian operations.

Monat - Balance Renew Shampoo
Ugh. I have such mixed reviews on this. It came as a set with a leave in conditioner and hair masque. I hate the leave in conditioner, and the hair masque is just a general hair masque. This shampoo says you need to use it twice. When you use it, you're only supposed to use a tiny amount, leave it in your hair for a few minutes, rince with warm water, then do it again. They say it's supposed to help your hair grow in thicker, prevent hair from falling out, quench dry skin, help with dry scalp, just so many claims. It didn't make my hair grow quicker, infact so much of my hair fell out while using this, that it thinned out my hair. It did help with my dry scalp, but I'd like my hair to stay there. Overall, I didn't feel like this was worth the expensive price tag, and I wouldn't repurchase this in the future.

Novex - Brazilian Keratin Hair Masque
This is also something that appears frequently in beauty boxes, however usually in packets. I received two of these jars so I thought I better at least give one a try because they take up space. I don't usually use hair masques because I am lazy, but I'm trying to use them more. This was nice and hydrating. However I have a ton to use, so I wouldn't repurchase this.

Layers by Scentsy - Body Wash in Sunkissed Citrus
This smelled like gummy bears to me! I really liked the scent, and this always lathers well for me. A little goes a long way. This was discontinued, but I still have quite a few bottles stored away.

Lush - Bubble Bar in Bar Humbug
I love this scent, it's very Fall/Christmas-y. I picked up a few of these during the BOGO Boxing Day sale, so it has lasted quite a while. It always gives great bubbles. I will repurchase this if they release it again this year.

Scentsy Wax Bar in Havana Cabana
This is a great summer scent. Reminds me of pineapple and a light touch of coconut. This was getting really old and the oils were not as strong as they once were so I decided to finish it up. I would repurchase this in the future but I'm not in a rush now, as I have way too many other scents to get through!

Clinique - Take the Day Off
This is makeup remover for lids, lashes, and lips. Its your typical oil remover. Shake it up and it gets mixed together, use a cotton pad and remove your makeup. I almost don't even want to admit how long I've had this. It did an okay job, but I just never really reached for it over the years. Ugh, yes, years. I prefer to just use an oil cleanser all over my face, and then a second cleanser. I feel it removes the makeup better. If for some reason it still hasn't removed everything, I like to use a micellar water. This left an oily slick and I just wasn't a fan of it.

Too Faced - Better Than Sex Mascara
I've had this awhile. And while most people probably wouldn't admit it, I hold onto my makeup. Even mascara. If it were to irritate my eyes, or smell, then obviously I would toss it, but I used this until it was finished. Initially, I didn't like this mascara. The formula was too wet, and with the wand being so large, it would get all over my lids. However as time passed, it dried out, and I loved it. I would repurchase this in the future because I love how fanned out and full my lashes looked once the formula did dry out a little.

Maybelline - The Falsies Mascara
I bought this awhile ago. Maybe in 2014. It's been sitting in the package in a drawer for years. That's how much mascara I have that I need to get through. Anyway it was an impulse buy because it was on clearance for less than $5 at Shoppers at the time. I purchased two tubes, and while I finished the first one and kind of liked it, when I went to try this one, I was underwhelmed. I'm sure it had to do with how much I liked the Too Faced more and had just finished. I used this for about two weeks and then tossed it. I have so many other mascaras to get through, that I don't feel the need to finish up something I don't like.

Younique - Eyelash Curler
This was a gift with purchase at some point. My favourite eyelash curler broke maybe a year ago, so I pulled this out and had been using it. Over time it has gotten really bad. Every time I use it, it rips my lashes out. I ended up purchasing another from Sephora recently, so this one has to go. Bye bye. I won't miss you.

Face Mask
I have no idea what brand this is, or what exactly this mask was supposed to target, as everything on the package was in Asian. It did feel nice on the skin, and the mask fit really well, I was able to wear it for almost an hour and it still had some essence on there. I liked it and would probably repurchase it in the future if I knew how to find it!

Barefoot - Body Scrub
Got this in a beauty box. Didn't find the exfoliation to be that great. Wouldn't repurchase.

GlamGlow - FlashMud Brightening Treatment
I didn't find this to brighten my skin, but I like GlamGlow masks. I wouldn't purchase this as a full size just because of the price and I didn't find a difference in my skin.

Love & Beauty - Coconut Ultra Hydrating Shea Butter Mask
This was another cheap mask I picked up from Forever 21. It is clay based, and I got a few uses out of it. I liked that it didn't dry out my skin like some clay masks can do. For the price, I would repurchase them. It felt somewhat hydrating, and I got about 3 or 4 uses out of one package.

Milatte Fashiony - Egg Peel Off Mask
This didn't work as a peel off mask for me. The goo was thick and never really seemed to dry down enough to where I could peel it off my skin. When I went to rince it, it was really thick. I had a hard time trying to wash it off. I wouldn't purchase these in the future.
