February 2014 - Ipsy Glam Bag! [Review]

The theme of the month of February was "The Look of Love." We were sent the CUTEST pink bag, with light pink leopard lining. It has been my favourite bag so far! We also got 5 samples this month, in a variety of full size and sample sizes.

1. Pop Beauty - Plump Pout Mini - in Peony Petal

Pop Beauty - Plump Pout Mini - Ipsy Glam Room
This plumping pout perfector combines the high-shine of a lacquered gloss with the long wear of a stain and is packed full of lip-plumping peptides and avocado and jojoba oils. Lightweight, creamy texture immediately merges with lips & delivers intense glossy color for an extremely long-lasting finish!

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Peony Petal or Fuschia Freesia.

Size: 4 g

I've tried Buxom plumping gloss before, and really liked it. So I was super excited to try Pop Beauty's plump pout lip gloss. I wasn't hoping for one colour over the other because they were both very nice looking. It turned out that the fuschia colour was very bright, and peony petal was a little darker, but not in your face. So I'm happy for what I was sent.

Let me start off by saying that this sample, and many others were smelly. They had a bad smell to them, like melted plastic or rubber. There were many many complaints about this on ipsy's page, and they definitely took care of the issue. I contacted both ipsy and pop beauty about the scent, and I will be receiving a new full size version of this from Pop, and ispy will send me a replacement lipstick. I have yet to receive both of these products. Pop Beauty did issue a statement saying that the product was safe to use, and that an ingredient for the scent had been missed in production. For February, all members were sent this lipgloss in their glam bags.

That being said, I tried it anyway. I love the colour. Its not too bright, but adds a pop of colour. It is smooth to apply. A little really goes a long way. I'm excited to receive the full size version , and see what its really supposed to smell like. I'm not sure if its the sample, or the formulation but it also doesn't plump like it says it will. Maybe the full size version will be different. We will see when it gets here, I can do another quick review. We were sent a sample size, and the full size retails for $16.00!

2. Zoya - Nail Polish - in Dot

Zoya - Professional Lacquer - Ipsy Glam Room
This season's Zoya Nail polish are full of pure pigment, intense color and modern complexity that are a perfect transition into Spring.

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Odette or Dot.

Size: 0.5 fl oz

For February, everyone received this Zoya polish in their glam bags. Let me tell you I was SO happy to hear that. I have heard of this product for a really long time, and I've always wanted to give it a try. I've never seen it in a store around here, so ipsy gave me the perfect chance to finally try it! I really wasn't picky about the colour, because both of them that they were sending out were beautiful. I ended up getting Dot, and I was glad because I already have colours very similar to the purple Odette colour.

Applying the polish was easy. It wasn't too watery, or thick. This colour though is more on the sheer side, so I did have to apply 3 coats in order to get the colour I wanted. The polish didn't chip easily and actually lasted a few days. I was really impressed. I was going to order a few more from the Zoya site with the ipsy monthly deal, but I found out they won't ship to Canada. A little sad about that. But it's okay! I've used this polish quite frequently in the past month. This was sent to us as a full size sample, which retails for $9.00 each!

3. First Aid Beauty - Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay

First Aid Beauty - Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser - Ipsy Glam Room
Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay removes excess oils, unclogs pores and purifies the skin with a powerful combination of Red Clay, Rosemary Leaf Oil and botanical antioxidants. By drawing out the skin’s toxins, this clay cleanser controls outbreaks and reduces sebum production for a more balanced complexion. Pores will instantly appear smaller, and the complexion will feel deeply cleansed. This foaming gel cleanser removes make-up, dirt and grime. It is perfect for anyone with problem-prone, combination or oily skin or as a deep treatment cleanse for normal skin.

Size: 1 oz

I was a little hesitant to see First Aid Beauty in my glam room/bag because I have tried their ultra repair cream, and it just did nothing for my skin. After a not so pleasant experience, I was afraid I would be let down with this product as well. I decided to give it a try anyway because thats what you're supposed to do with these bags!

The first time I used it, I really loved the product. It made my skin so soft, and clean. I could feel that it worked. It smelled great, and didn't burn my face when I used it. After a few more tries, I found that it was starting to dry my skin out. I stopped using it and my face has, for the most part, gone back to how it was before I started to use this. I wouldn't purchase another item from their line of products because they just haven't worked with my skin type. A lot of people seemed to want this, so I shouldn't have tried it and just traded with someone for something else. Oh well! :) The sample we were sent was about a quarter of the size of the full size. The full size retails (at Sephora) for $30.00, and on their site for $24.00!

4. J.Cat Beauty - Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue - in EL15

J.Cat Beauty - Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue - Ipsy Glam Room
Cause a ruckus as you bat your voluminous faux eyelashes! Each includes an individual eyelash adhesive for endurance through a night on the town!

- Eyelash glue is latex free
- Perfect for sensitive eyes
- Lashes can be used up to 10 times
- Creates the perfect natural look

I have never ever used false lashes ever in my life because my lashes are naturally long. I see many people complaining on the ipsy page that they are sick of lashes. Luckly I have been able to avoid getting them, until this month. I hope I don't get them again because I won't use them. I wanted to try them out anyway because I wanted to see how it would look. The lashes they sent me weren't crazy like other peoples. I found application difficult, I guess because I have never had to apply them before. I liked that they sent glue with it, and that the glue was black therefore it would blend into your eyelash colour, and look like a liner.

While I don't think the lashes looked bad, I wouldn't wear them again unless I really wanted a "glam" look to go out with. They're not very natural, and I just don't have a use for them. I personally wouldn't buy them, and I hope they don't come in my bag. If I do get them, I will probably donate them to someone who needs them. I see people have posted on the Facebook page that there are cancer patients that would like them, and if I can brighten someones day with something as simple as sending them eyelashes, I will! We were sent a full size as a sample, and it retails for $3.99!

5. Jesse's Girl - 9 Pan Eye Shadow Compact - in The Eyes Have It

Jesse's Girl - 9 Pan Eye Shadow Compact - Ipsy Glam Room
Jesse's Girl put together four great eye shadow collections suitable for all: Brown Eyed Girl, Behind Blue Eyes, Tickled Pink, and The Eyes Have It. Each compact features nine coordinating eye shadows in a sleek, travel-friendly case

ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Tickled Pink, Brown Eyed Girl, Behind Blue Eyes, or The Eyes Have It.

Size: 0.22 oz

Seeing the sneak peek for this glam bag, I really really wanted to try this eye shadow compact. A lot of others voiced their opinions on hoping they would get this as well. I managed to luck out and get it. I'm kind of disappointed though. The quality is not as good as I was hoping. The colours I was sent don't work well with my skintone or my eye colour. The colours are pigmented and come out great, but most don't work for me. If I do decide to wear this, I try to stick to the brown colours. We got this as a full size sample, which retails for $3.99.

Although there were some issues with the February bag, I have to say it has been my favourite so far. The bag itself is super cute, and PINK! I loved the nail polish, and lip gloss (minus the gross scent), so I'm excited to be receiving the full size version. The lashes I could do without, and although I'm not a huge fan of all the colours in the eyeshadow, it is a good palette for the price.
