Garnier - Ultra Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream - Review

I have to say that I never really go out actively searching for anti-wrinkle, or anti-aging products. I just turned 28 this month, so I probably should start using these products soon, but I don't seem to have much use for them yet.

Younique 3D Fiber Lashes - [Review]

I keep seeing this 3D Fiber Lashes mascara, ALL over the internet. In blogs, on instagram, on Facebook, seriously everywhere. One of my friends actually just recently started selling it. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan when I first saw it because almost all of the pictures I saw, the girls eyelashes were clumped together, and looked like spider legs. I know some people like that look, but I am not one of them.

A few weeks ago we set up an online party for me, because she wanted to get the word out. Nobody purchased, but I figured it didn't hurt to try. Then last week my Mom's friend was asking me if she could still order those 3D lashes, so we set up another ONLINE party, and I'm helping my friend out again.

December 28, 2014

I've been trying to use up some of my older products, and I'm not getting through them as fast as I'd like! - Something I never thought I'd say haha. But seriously, I have a ton of skin care, and make up products that just aren't getting used. I see something new I just have to have, and everything just starts to pile up, so I've tried very hard to stay away from sales, and I haven't really purchased anything (besides a few things here and there that I needed) but there is so many things I want, and it's hard!

Anyway - on to my post!

December 2014 - Ipsy Glambag! [Review]

It's that time, when I should do my Ipsy review.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas (if they celebrate) and good holidays! :)

The theme of the month was Thinking of You.

December 22, 2014

Nailed It!

I've been seeing so many Christmas/Holiday inspired nails all over the place. On blogs, on Instagram, on Facebook. Just about everywhere. I knew I wanted to do something fun to my nails this Christmas.

One night I was bored, browsing the Walmart website, and I realized, I NEED a red nail polish. I don't even have one single bottle. I've always stayed away from red because it grabs so much attention, but I decided I had to have one.

Book Review: Jeff Gunhus - Killer Within [Review]

If you're looking for an interesting, easy to read, suspenseful novel, then this is the book for you.

This story follows two main characters, Arnie Milhouse and Allison McNeil.

Mario Badescu Samples [Review]

I actually saw in the beginning of the year that if you did a skin analysis on Mario Badescu's website, they would send you an email that gave you the option of receiving the picks, as samples. I applied back then, and never ever got them.

Dollar Store Finds!

In the summer, and beginning of fall, I was living away from home in a small town. They had a Shoppers Drug Mart, which was nice, but that was it for make up. The next town over had a Walmart, and okay again for makeup, but everything was the same. I noticed one day that they were getting a new dollar store (I forget the name now... oops!) so  I wanted to check it out.

I noticed there they had a tiny makeup section, I wasn't expecting much because our Dollar Tree's don't have nearly as much selection as the States, and I figured this one wouldn't either.

Ipsy - December 2014 - Sneak Peeks!

I've been so on the fence about keeping or ending my Ipsy subscription after this month. Seeing these sneak peeks, and early glam room access, pretty much made my decision for me. There was nothing exciting this month, there was nothing that jumped out and made me say OMG, I NEED THAT! And that's been happening for the past few months. So, I've decided that I will keep my subscription until January, and hopefully they will upload some 250, or 500 point perks between now and December 31st, so I can redeem my points and cancel, get my last bag, and maybe subscribe again in the future, or try something new.

That being said, here is December Sneak Peeks!

Ipsy: My Year Review - And All Time Favourites!

November 2014 marks my official ONE YEAR anniversary with Ipsy. I've had some awesome bags, and some not so awesome bags, but there's never been one where I've absolutely hated it. There's usually at least one item I love from each bag.

Scentsy Love!

Anybody that knows me, knows how much I LOVE great smelling products. Whether it be for the home, for my body, or even my laundry.

A few years ago I discovered Scentsy. They carry a huge line of smell-goods, for just about anything you can think of. What makes Scentsy so unique, is that they are SAFE to use. There's no candles that can burn your house down, and their warmers can be left on for literally 24/7. Amazing.

DIY! Homemade Lip Scrub!

So there I was. At home on a Saturday night. Bored, and chewing my lips. I realized my lips were dry, and somewhat peely. Even though I've been applying lip balm quite often, they still didn't feel as soft or smooth as I would like. So I thought, hmmm... maybe I should finally try a lip scrub. I've never tried one before, and I certainly don't have the budget right now to go out and buy one, so I decided to Google homemade lip scrubs.

They seem easy enough to make, with ingredients that everyone has around their house. It depends if you want to add something different to yours or not. From what I could see from my two second search, that it would take only a few minutes (if that!) to make a simple lip scrub.

I headed to the kitchen and pulled out whatever ingredients I thought would work well in this concoction.

In my searches, I found that you could use regular granulated sugar, or brown sugar. I would have preferred to use brown sugar in this one, but we don't have any at the moment. So granulated white sugar it was!

I also found on Google that you should use honey, olive oil, or coconut oil to use as your "liquid" - just enough to make the sugar sticky, and turn into a paste. I opted for coconut oil because I don't like honey, and I thought coconut oil might be better over the olive oil.

I added some vanilla because I'm not a huge fan of the scent, or taste of coconut oil. This specific vanilla I picked up while I was in the Dominican Public before, hence why it is called Vainilla - lol. They spelled it the way they pronounce it. Cute. It also has a good quality taste, it's clear, and it has just a touch of cinnamon, to me at least.

The smallest pot container I could find was an old sample of an eye cream. So I made sure to wash it well and dry it before using it. The added coca cola cherry chap stick is there because I thought I could mash a little bit into my scrub to give it a nice pinkish tone, and cherry scent.

I used about a tablespoon of white sugar, and couple of drops of already melted coconut oil (it tends to separate when the air is warm) and a little tiny drop of vanilla. I scraped a small amount of lip balm as well into the bowl and mixed it all together until it formed a paste. I did end up sprinkling a little bit more sugar in because I felt the mixture was too wet.

Once it was the right texture, I spooned it into my little container, that apparently wasn't big enough for my mixture, but its okay. As you can see the lip balm didn't mix very well into the sugar scrub. If I were to make it again I wouldn't add that, but that was my mistake.

I could definitely see myself making this again in the future. I'd like to play around with it some more and create the perfect scrub.

Online recommends that you only use the scrub once, maximum twice per week, and to use a moisturizing lip balm afterwards.

After I had put it into my little container, I tried what was left over in my bowl. I applied it to my lips, rubbed them together for a few seconds, then wiped it off with warm water and a cloth. I can immediately feel that my lips are smoother and I can't feel anymore loose skin. Woohoo! :)

November 2014 - Ipsy Glambag!

Well, my Ipsy bag FINALLY arrived today. A week after all of my friends had received theirs. I have even been subscribed longer than them, AND live not even that far from all of them. And somehow, mine was shipped much later. But, at least I got it before the end of the month.

I have officially been with Ipsy now for one full year. I want to do an "Ipsy Fave's" post, but I am unsure if I should do it now, or just wait for December's bag and include that for my full year of favourites. Anyway, he's my November bag!

Wish List!

This is something new I feel like adding to the blog, in order to become more interactive.

These are things I wish to have. Maybe some of you have them already, and can provide your thoughts in the comments below!

Here we go! :)

Belted Crochet Lace Dress available in Cream or Peach at Forever 21

This super cute dress is from Forever 21 and retails for ONLY $18.80 Canadian.
I'd love to add this one to my wardrobe (in either colour!)

Jessica MD/Flower Necklace - Sears Canada

This necklace can be found at Sears Canada. I saw something very similar to this when I was in the store browsing a few days ago, and should have picked it up. Anyway, this would look nice with practically anything. I'd love to pair it with black or white to really make the colour pop. This is on sale for a very very reasonable price of $9.99 Canadian (regularly $19.99) so cute!

Mia Skin Cleansing System - Clarisonic

I have been wanting to try this forever, but the giant price tag is what stops me. I've heard nothing but great things about it, and really want to get my hands on one!

This particular model retails for $139.00 Canadian on Sephora's website.

Glam Glow - Gift Sexy

I received the Glam Glow Tinglexfoliant Mask in one of my Ipsy bags, and I actually just finished the little sample not too long ago. I'd love to purchase a full size, but it's very pricey. This specific set is only $76 and you get to try all three!

Last but not least...

Birchbox Canada - Subscription

I'd love love love to try Birchbox now that it is available in Canada. However, due to timing, I am unable to sign up for it myself. So, for my wishlist - I'd love a subscription to try Birchbox!

** All of these products have been wished for by me - I have no connection to any of the businesses or companies, and I am not being paid for promoting any of these products **

Yalmeh Peerless Beauty - Aloe Super Youth Eye Cream [Review]

I recently received this Yalmeh Peerless Beauty - Aloe Super Youth Eye Cream for free from in order to provide an honest review on Amazon Canada, and on my blog.

Here is a description of the eye cream, provided by Yalmeh Peerless Beauty.

Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Night Cream [Review]

Many years ago (probably close to 10 years now that I think about it...) I was introduced to my holy grail moisturizer. It was so rich, and luxurious. And it was one of few that actually worked on my dry, red, face. A woman at a cosmetics counter who was working for the same department store I was, actually recommended that I try it, since my mom and I were trying to find something that worked for me.

Natura - Make Up Remover Tissues [Review]

I picked up this pack a few months ago at a local Dollar Store. I needed some make up remover wipes, but didn't want to pay a fortune, because the funds just weren't there at the time. I know sometimes they sell name brand products, but didn't see any at the time. I thought I would give this a shot.

November 12, 2014

I've decided that I want to start blogging about the empties I collect.. I've read about them on other blogs, and I love everyones opinions, and whether or not the product was good enough to be repurchased! It really helps when I am looking for new things to try!

Some of these empties were from October, and some from the beginning of the month. I'll try and collect a few each time before I write about it. I'm thinking monthly empties may be better. I'll see how it goes along the way and make a decision then.

Bath and Body Works - Pink Sugarplum Foaming SoapI LOVE this stuff. I prefer this foaming soap over the beaded soap that they carry, but both are really nice. The scent was sweet. I actually purchased this one awhile back at one of the semi-annual sales.
I will repurchase these soaps, in different scents.

GlamGlow YouthMud Tinglexfoliant Treatment
I loved this mask. I had never tried a mask before I got this in my Ipsy bag, and I loved it. It made my skin feel so clean, and it did tingle. However, it's SO expensive, I won't be purchasing.

Clinique - Rinse Off Eye Makeup Solvent
I have many of these around my house from many gift with purchases. I tend to use it, get a new one, and then remember I have this. I have found better makeup removers, and I'm not a huge fan of this one. I will not purchase.

Delon Salon Formula Regular Nail Polish Remover
This can be found at probably every dollar store. It works well, and it's cheap. I have already repurchased.

For the month of November, I have put myself on a NO BUY!! I need to focus on the ton of products that I already have, so I hope to get some more empties collected!

Freeman Beauty - Acai Facial Purifying Clay Mask [Review]

I purchased this Purifying Clay Mask a few weeks ago from Walmart. My Glam Glow sample (from Ipsy) was starting to get really low, and I liked the way my skin felt and looked after using a mask. Since Glam Glow was the first clay mask I had ever tried, I wasn't exactly sure what to look for.

Ipsy - November 2014 - Sneak Peeks

I have officially been subscribed with Ipsy for a year. Lately I have been debating if I want to keep my subscription or cancel. I only signed up month to month, so I can cancel at any time. I think I may see how this month goes, and December and officially make my decision then. It's so nice to get little packages in the mail every month, but products add up and things don't get used.

Ipsy has released two sneak peeks so far. I will add on the others once they get released!

The theme for November is Girl Meets Glitter. This could be fun.

Sneak Peek #1 - It's the BAG! Ipsy never shows the bag first, so they have changed things up this time around. I honestly like the bag. It has pink, it's silver, and it's glitter. Love it! However, I hope it's not loose glitter on the outside of the bag, because that's just a huge mess. I'm hoping the glitter piles are also just for the photo. No loose glitter please.

Sneak Peek #2 - Lots of lip products :) Here we've got:
J.Cat - Wonder Lip Paint
Nicole by OPI silver glitter nail polish
CK One Lip Gloss
Starlooks Lip Gloss (The same as last month)
Love & Beauty (Forever 21) Lip Stick
LA Color Chunky Lip Pencil
Wet and Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain

They all seem to be the same price range, which is good because then it doesn't cause huge bag envy amongst everyone. Personally from this sneak peek, based on colours, I'd pick the Love and Beauty Lip Stick. I really like the Wet and Wild Balm Stain and J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint, but I would be afraid that they would be too dark for me. There's nothing bad in this spoiler though. Except the Starlooks. I got it last month, and it's a nice colour and not sticky, I just don't want a repeat.

Sneak Peek #3 - We've got eye products this time.
Starlooks eyeliner, it looks like it will come in two shades
Elizabeth Mott liquid eyeliner
Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow primer

From this one, I'd like the liquid eyeliner. I'm not a fan of BaB products, and I got starlooks last year, which I don't use.

Ipsy gave everyone an early sneak peek. So, I now know what I'm getting, however I'm waiting on posting my glam room until all of the sneak peeks are done.

Sneak Peek #4 - This was actually sent out last week in an email to past Ipsy members, so it's been floating around for a little on the web. This sneak peek has:
Temptu highlighter - this is marketed for an airbrush system. Not sure why they would send it. Ipsy has stated though that it can be applied with a brush, sponge or fingers.
It Cosmetics concealer
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
Glam Glow Mask
Tarte Oil
Laura Mercer brush and powder

From this sneak peek, I'd like the Glam Glow, but I got the tinglexfoliant a few months ago, so getting it again is very very slim. I'd want the oil too, because my skin has been so dry, I'd like to try a new oil out. Plus, I've never tried Tarte products before, and I've heard great things.

Sneak Peek #5 - LOTS OF REPEATS. On Ipsy's page, they say all members will get TWO of these items.

What I see in this final sneak peek, is lots of repeats. I hate when Ipsy does this. Make the spoilers smaller, because it just shows that you got way too many of certain items. Here we have:
Nicole by OPI Silver Glitter Nail Polish (seen in SP2)
SeaRx - This can be an exfoliator or lotion
Demeter Roll on Perfume in Pixie Dust
Delectable hand cream (can also come in body lotion)
Marc Anthony Oil by Morocco Hair Spray
Temptu highlighter (seen in SP4)
Be a Bombshell eyeshadow base (seen in SP3)
Rouge Underground Makeup Sealant
ClariSea Instant Glow Powder Exfoliant

From this specific spoiler, I'd like to try the perfume. I know I don't have perfume selected, but this scent sounds like it would be perfect for me. I'd also like to try either of the exfoliants.

*** Early glam room access was given again this month, so here's a sneak peek of what I'll get ***

As you can see, I'm getting the Be a Bombshell Eye Base, Elizabeth Mott you're so FINE Eyeliner, J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint, Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray, and Temptu S/B Highlighter.

Looking back from Sneak Peek 1 (the bag) I will be getting from Sneak Peek 2, the J. Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint, which I wanted to try - DEPENDING on the colours. Ipsy is sending one of two colours.

Between these two colours, I would prefer the one on the right. It's more of a lighter red. The one on the left looks like it would be way too dark for my complexion.

In Sneak Peek 3, I will be getting both the Elizabeth Mott liner, and the BaB Eye Base. But because that Sneak Peek said we would only receive one item from that spoiler, mine would be the liner. And that's what I really wanted from that one.

In Sneak Peek 4, I really wanted the Glam Glow but knew I wasn't going to get it, so that was expected. The next thing I really wanted was the Tarte Oil, but I knew it was a popular item so again, getting it was slim to none. From this particular spoiler I'm getting the Temptu highlighter, which I don't want.

In the last Sneak Peek 5, I wanted to try the perfume, based on the description, or one of the exfoliators. My luck wasn't good and I got the unwanted Be a Bombshell Eye Base, and Marc Anthony Oil of Morroco Hairspray. It looks like a lot of people are getting these, so I guess they were just sent a lot.

Also, hopefully I will be doing some more product reviews this month. I have tons of products here that I could review. Some new, some I've had for awhile, but I'd like to be a little more involved, and add more posts throughout the month. Some reviews I have coming soon are:

- Ipsy Glam Bag November 2014
- Garnier Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Night Cream
- Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
- Live Clean Moisturizing Set
- Smile Sciences Tooth Whitening Kit
- Freeman Purifying Clay Mask
- Ipsy One Year Review (My top favourite items)
- Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Night Cream

... and more!

Beauty Box 5 - October 2014 [Review]

After 3 months, I decided to cancel my beauty box 5. The cost was very close to the price of the Ipsy bags (even with the exchange rate) and I decided it wasn't worth it. The samples are small compared to Ipsy's and I considered them kind of sub-par.

October 2014 - Ipsy Glambag! [Review]

So the theme of October's glam bag is "Beauty Candy"

Benefit Cosmetics - Customer Service

I recently redeemed some Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points on a Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Concealer.

Beauty Box 5 - October 2014 - Sneak Peek

I recently signed up to beauty box 5, when they had a buy one box, get one box free, promotion.

I was 50/50 split between the two previous boxes. I liked one more than the other. I decided to keep the box for October to see what we would get, and then would make my decision on if I wanted to stay subscribed, or unsubscribe.

The product everyone will receive in their October Beauty Box 5 is bellapierre cosmetics, lip and cheek stain, in the colour pink.

I've never tried this brand before, but I've seen it in Ipsy bags in the past. And it was actually a part of a recent Ipsy point redemption. I was excited to see what it would be like.

Ipsy - October 2014 - Sneak Peeks!

It's that time of the month again! Ipsy sneak peeks! Beauty Candy was the theme for October's bag. And while I like the idea of the theme, I think it would be better suited for a different month. October is all about FALL, and Beauty Candy doesn't equal fall to me. Let's see what we'll be getting...

Sneak Peek #1

All members will receive ONE of the above items. Here we have:
- Starlooks lip gloss in Guilty Pleasure
- Noyah lip stick in Deeply in Mauve
- City Color Be Matte lip stick in Cappuccino

From all three I wanted the lip gloss.

Sneak Peek #2
This sneak peek was actually sent out before hand to previous subscribers, so people may have seen it before Ipsy posted it. Anyway, in this sneak peek we have:
- Revlon Bold Lacquer Length and Volume Mascara in Blackest Black
- Jesse's Girl Mineralized Baked Shadow Powder in Plum Frost, Rosemary Frost, Ocean Breeze, Graphite Frost, Kiwi Shine, Esmeralda
- Doll 10 H2Glo Highlighter
- NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara
- MicaBeauty Mineral Eye Shadow in Harlequin or Reluctance
- ModelCo Volumeyes Extreme Black Mascara
- Skone Cosmetics Tattooed Waterproof Eyeliner

From this sneak peek, members will receive one of the above products. Out of all of them I would like to try the eyeliner, or jesse's girl baked eye shadow. I received revlon in my beauty box 5 and still haven't tried it yet, so I would like to avoid getting that one.

Sneak Peek #3
For sneak peek number 3, members will receive one of three products.
- Rihanna Rogue perfume
- Ayres Patagonia Body Butter
- Figs and Rouge Hand Cream in either Mango Mandarin or Rose Berry

Honestly, I don't want any of these. But I guess I would pick the mango mandarin hand cream.

Sneak Peek #4
Next up, we have three items again.
- Epice International Purifying Exfoliant
- Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser
- Skyn Iceland Mini Glacial Cleansing Cloths

To me, this sneak peek is better than the third. That being said, I'd like to try the purifying exfoliant or cleansing cloths. I remember trying to get epice international samples back in February and they never ever came.

Sneak Peek #5
There are a ton of products in the last sneak peek. Again, we will receive only 1 of them.
- Doll 10 H2Glo Higlighter (repeat from second spoiler)
- Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Feeling Very Cherry or On a Gilt Trip
- Fudge Urban Matte Wax
- ECRU New York Acacia Protein BB Cream Beauty Balm for Hair
- Cirque Colors Nail Polish
- Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
- Albertini Warm Love Pumpkin Exfoliating Mask
- H20Plus Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment
- Kiss iENVYbyKISS Lashes
- Nourish Organic Moisturizing Face Cleanser

There are a ton of things from this spoiler I wouldn't mind trying. I have dry skin, so the H2OPlus, or Nourish Organic would be good. I love the dark cherry colour of the Nicole OPI nail polish. I'd even love love love to try the pumpkin mask. I'd be happy with anything but the lashes, or smashbox because I have one already and I hate it.

Finally, we have the bag.
This one reminds me a lot of the bag we got in December. The black patent one. I loved that bag, so I hope I love this one too. We'll see when it gets here!

**Ipsy gave us early access again to our glam bags! This is what I will be expecting when the bag arrives!**

 What I'm getting is:
- Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser
- MicaBeauty Mineral Eye Shadow
- Rihanna Rogue perfume
- Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
- Starlooks Lip Gloss

I have to say I'm not impressed. What is a brightening cleanser? I don't have perfume selected in my profile. I've tried the primer and I hated it. The only okay things are the lip gloss (which I have an endless amount now because I just keep getting it - even though lipstick is selected as well on my profile) AND depending on the shade of eye shadow, it can be hit or miss.

What are you guys getting in your October glam bag?!

Beauty Box 5 - September 2014 [Review]

After seeing the August Beauty Box 5, I was hoping that September would be just as good, in terms of being able to use everything.

The one thing I dislike about this company is that there are no preferences for you to pick. Everyone pretty much gets the same box, with different colour variations, or one product may differ between customers.

So as seen in a few posts back, all BB5 members were to receive a Nicka K Eye Light Crayon. It was sent in a few different colours.

Nicka K New York - Eye Light Crayon
Mine was sent to me in the gold colour. I have only swatched it on my hand, and it does come out smooth. It also comes out very shimmery. This was sent as a full size product, and retails on the Nicka K site for $4.49.
My Beauty Spot Luxury Goddess Nail Polish
There were a few of these colours sent out as well. I received the gray polish (second from the left) and it is actually a lot darker than what the image shows. When I first saw the polish I wanted to swatch it, but I couldn't even get the bottle opened. After doing some google searching, people recommended that I run the lid under hot water, and it should help loosen it up. Not a great first impression on this box. BB5 offered to replace it when I complained, but I can't be bothered to go through the hassle of getting another cheap polish. This comes in a set of 6 and sells on the BB5 site for $24.99, making them $4.16 each. They are not worth that much at all. The formula is really thick, and the bottle is tiny (0.4 fl oz).

Natural Style by Fubu - Deep Conditioner and Co-Wash
So, who knew that Fubu had a hair care line? Not I. Anyway, we received 2 foil packets of this stuff. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. 12oz sells for $12.99 on the BB5 website.

Revlon - Bold Lacquer Length and Volume Mascara
When I saw this on Instagram in other peoples boxes, I didn't want it. I have so many mascaras at the moment, that I didn't want another. But, I was sent one. Hopefully it does actually give volume and length. I have another Revlon Grow Lusious Mascara, and its very basic, natural looking. This mascara seems to be making its rounds in other beauty boxes as well, infact it is even in Ipsy's September bag as well. This was sent as a full size product, and retails at Ulta for $7.99. I think it retails around the same amount at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Sally Hansen - Toe Spacers
Finally, I was sent toe spacers. I've used them. They work just fine. They're just toe spacers. I was unimpressed to see this in my box, but it looks like everyone got them. Its suggested they retail for $1.99, but you could probably find them cheaper elsewhere.

After seeing both of my boxes, I decided I would take Octobers box, and then cancel my subscription. They don't compare very well to Ipsy, and I couldn't see myself cancelling Ipsy to go with BB5. My October box is on its way, and I hope its an improvement!

*I purchased this subscription with my own money. All opinions are of my own*
