Boxycharm - October 2017

Boxycharm is a subscription box service, that sends full size and deluxe sample size items to you each month. I've noticed majority of the time, you will get full sized products, and you receive 5 each month. It is $21 USD a month, plus shipping. There are discounts if you sign up for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. I originally signed up for 3 months, and it renewed for another 3 months automatically. Everyone generally gets the same box each month, with a few variations such as lipstick colours. Or a lipstick vs lip gloss. That being said, let's take a look at what I received for my October Boxycharm!

The theme for the month is Spellbound - which is perfect for the month of October, with Halloween "season" quickly approaching. So let's see what I got inside!

I see some familiar brands, and not so familiar too.

Dr. Brandt - PoreDermabrasion (Retail Price - $58)
Pore-perfecting technology at your fingertips, with a professional-grade micro-crystal solution, that instantly deep-cleans and refines pores.

I'm still working on the micro dermabrasion exfoliator that Boxycharm sent out a few months ago. I really like how gentle yet effective the Dr. Brandt exfoliators are. However, you only really need to use them once a week or so. These last forever!

ncLA - "Nailed It" Tool Kit (Retail Price - $18)
This five piece set instantly freshens up your manicure no matter where you are.

I'm not quite sure what this has to do with the theme of Spellbound, or what some of the tools do. But it's welcomed, because you can never have too many nail clippers. I'm sure something there is for cuticles that I could use, I'll have to do some research! But I like the little case it came in, and this seems to be a Boxycharm x ncLA collab.

Tarte - Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Homeslice (Retail Price - $20)
A full coverage, transfer-proof liquid lipstick with a quick-dry matte finish.

This lip paint really does dry down really quickly to a matte finish. It's a little scary looking at it in the tube because it looks like an orange-brown that would never suit my skin tone. I have a swatch below.

Jonteblu - Lip Liner Pencil in Brown Sugar (Retail Price $5)
The creamy, highly pigmented formula glides on effortlessly. Can be used for flawless lip contouring, worn alone, or as a long-lasting base for any lip colour.

This looks brown. And will probably be too dark, or not work for me. I've seen some people post in some makeup groups that they have paired the Tarte lip paint in Homeslice with this specific lip liner, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to give it a try. I think I will include it in my giveaway instead of ruining it by swatching it.

Becca - Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Prosecco Pop (Retail Value  - $38)
Best-selling creamy highlighter powder that will light up the features you love with a high-shine finish.

Prosecco pop was being sent out in either the liquid or the powder versions, and I had my fingers crossed for the powder. I'm so glad I got it! This is a pretty highlighter - very similar to Champagne Pop but more yellow.

Swatched above is the Tarte Lip Paint in Homeslice and Prosecco Pop lightly swatched. Both have great pigmentation.

Overall - this wasn't my favourite Boxycharm box I have received. The lip liner will be passed on, the nail kit isn't the most exciting product but will be used, an orange-ish liquid lipstick that I have to use a super light hand with applying. I'm glad to see brands like Tarte, Becca and Dr. Brandt in these boxes though. The retail value of this box is $139, it has it's value like always. We've already seen a sneak peek for November's box. The Winkylux eyeshadow palette, and it's been confirmed that we will be receiving a Cover FX setting spray! I'm already a fan of November!
