July 2017 - Empties!

Another month has come to an end, and we're at the end of July already! It's amazing how quickly time passes now that we're older. As always, empties are my favourite kind of post, I like being able to see what I used up, and I love reading/watching other peoples empties posts/videos. Without going on too much more (because I have quite a few empties this month!) let's just get into it!

Five on Friday - July 28, 2017

It's finally Friday! And that means it's time for another Five on Friday! I hope you'll join in! All you have to do is post about five things on your mind, add the Five on Friday logo (found at the bottom of this post), and join the party using the linky tools found on Smidge of This. It's easy, and a great way to find new blogs to read, and a great way to be found!

My cousins wedding has come and gone, and now I have one less thing to look forward to lol. The ceremony was held outside infront of this gazebo. There was a little pond/lake behind, and everything was so beautiful. The reception was beautiful as well.

Dior Rouge - The New Lipstick - Swatches

I received this as one of my free samples from Sephora back in December. I had a whole post typed out, and then something happened and I lost it all. Like, the post deleted itself. I was mad, and I just never typed it all up again (it was so long) - but I received this when I managed to get my Nars blush for hitting VIB Rouge, and I picked the Fresh duo for my birthday gift. It took all my might not to break into the packaging the same day and try it out! So here we finally are. Trying out the Dior Rouge - The New Lipstick matte lipstick samples!

The Body Shop - Vitamin E - Intense Moisture Serum

I'm always on the hunt for good skincare! I had run out of my previous serum and decided I wanted to give another brand a try. Now I don't find that serums make a huge difference in the look of my skin, but it does make my skin feel hydrated if I use one. Plus, I like to think it keeps some of the moisture in my dry skin when layered with other products. The Body Shop was having a huge sale on at the time, so I added this Vitamin E - Intense Moisture Serum to my cart, and gave it a try as soon as it arrived.

It's wedding day! My cousin is getting married today, and I'm super excited for them, and to see my extended family! It seems like the time has just flown by since they announced their engagement. It should be a fun night!

I ended up going to get my hair fixed on Tuesday. I had tried many methods of toning it, including Wella toners with 20 developer, using a semi-permanent ultra violet hair dye mixed with hair conditioner, purple shampoo, blue shampoo, and I just couldn't beat the brassy tones. I had enough. I ended up going to Marca College (it's a school for students who are interested in becoming hair dressers) and I managed to get a well informed student. I went in as soon as they opened, because they don't take appointments. The student knew exactly what I was there for just by looking at my hair. She added in some highlights, and blended the "balayage"/ombre that was in the ends. She mixed a few different toners, and then chopped some hair off. It's not as white/icy as I would like, but I'm still so happy with how it turned out. I will need to bleach my hair more to get lighter, but I'm good for now. I will upload some photos for next week's Five on Friday that are from the wedding, and show my updated hair. It took her 5 hours, but I'm so happy it's fixed up.

Remember the baby foot peel I posted about last week? Well it took a few days to actually work really well, and wow! I'm surprised at the amount of skin that came off. I know that sounds disgusting! I didn't think my feet were too bad, besides the heels were a little rough. But this removed everything. My feet feel so smooth! I will say, that it didn't really start to peel until the Friday (I had applied on the Monday). And although the instructions don't include this, you really need to soak your feet every day, even if it's only for 2 minutes. It really helps lift the skin. I'm so impressed, I'll definitely look into purchasing it again in the future.

I was picked recently for a few different campaigns. One is for a Lancome mascara, another for Schwarzkopf blonde enhancing shampoo/mask (which couldn't have come at a better time!), and then I was also accepted for some food too! So delicious cashew milk ice cream, Good & Simple Bars and Muffins, and Three Farms Roasted Chick Peas. I'll be doing separate reviews on the makeup/hair items.. I can do a quick little post about the food too when I get a chance to try them all.

I had another interview yesterday (Thursday) and it went really well. I actually worked at this business just before I left to help my boyfriend with his family's store. I worked there for almost 2 years, and left on good terms. If you've been following me for awhile, then you know that I have been looking for employment for a few months. It's just by fluke that I had seen the job ad posted and I recognized the business name. I sent my resume in, and luckily they called me in for an interview. By the sounds of things, they are interested in re-hiring me, but they need to complete a few other interviews. I will find out for sure on Wednesday, so I've got my fingers crossed. A couple of the past employees gave them some good words about me (they told me in the interview) which made me happy. I hope it works out!

Sorry for the lack of photos this week! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face and Body Foundation - Glamsense Campaign

Glamsense is anotherprogram where you can sign up (for free) and review makeup and skincare products. They are similar to ChickAdvisor and Influenster. Glamsense is run by the same people as Topbox is, and they seem to have campaigns quite frequently, which is awesome. You're not always picked for campaigns, but when you do get one, it's a nice surprise. They are always full size products, and you get a decent amount of time to try the products out. This time, people were chosen to try out the new Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face and Body Foundation. I luckily was picked, and all we had to do was provide a small review on Instagram, showing our initial application of the foundation, and then an after photo when we had worn it all day. I decided to give it a few trys, and to put a full review on my blog as well, because I have some thoughts on this foundation!

L'Oreal - Pro Glow Foundation

This L'Oreal Infallible foundation received a lot of hype when it first came out. Especially the original matte version. Once I heard there was a "glow" version, I decided I needed to give it a try. Plus it was available at Walmart, which made it easy to grab when running errands!

Topbox - June 2017

Topbox is probably the most affordable subscription service that I have ever subscribed to. It's only $12 a month, which means in Ontario it only comes to $13.56 after taxes. Super affordable. Especially for those who aren't looking to spend too much, while getting to try new brands. They usually only send sample sized products, and a lot of skincare. So if you're looking for mostly makeup, or full size items, I'd recommend Boxycharm instead. Or even Ipsy. There generally isn't a theme of the month either.

Each month we are given the opportunity to wish for a prive box. What that is, is a box featuring a specific brand. First let's take a look at what our prive options were for June.

June 2017 - Empties!

Another month has come to an end, and we're officially more than half way through 2017. It's amazing how quickly time passes now that we're older. Last weekend we had a long weekend. We ended up going away for the night on Sunday. The traffic was so bad! What usually takes just over an hour to get there, it took us two and a half! We kind of expected it to be busy, but not that busy! Anyway, we had a good night away and coming home there was no traffic, which was really nice. But it messed up my posting schedule! I usually will post Monday, Wednesday, Friday.. but I ended up doing Tuesday, Thursday, and now today. I will be back on track Monday, but I think I need to add another day in there, my posts are starting to stack up!

We received some Scentsy news on Wednesday, which kind of puts a damper on selling it. They announced that as of September 1st, the prices for the bars will be going up to $6 USD each, or $8 Canadian dollars. I find that pricey considering you can go to Walmart and pick a wax bar out for less than $3 and have it right away, without paying shipping either. They also announced that all Canadian prices are going up by 10%. I don't have a large customer base, but I have a feeling that this will be the end of my selling Scentsy. Of course they try to spin it to make us feel like this is a good thing because it will mean more money for us, but when we don't have customers buying, that means there is no money. We will see what happens, they should be releasing some sneak peeks soon for the new Fall and Winter season coming. Hopefully they will have some products that will keep me going. August was also announced as 10% off month - so if you're looking to stock up before prices change, then is the time!

There was another Boxycharm spoiler that came out, this time for August! And I have to say, I'm super excited! It's the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Volume 2 palette! The mirror look like it will be awesome too. As far as I know there is no wait list at the moment, so if you're interested in getting a subscription, my link is here. You will receive July's box too, which also seems pretty awesome so far! I can't wait for it to come in next week!

I told myself I needed a no buy for July.. and I've already failed. Although, I didn't spend a lot so far. I ended up getting the Sephora x Tarte birthday gift from someone in a makeup group I'm in. The blush is in the shade Paaarty, and the Lip Paint is in Birthday Suit. The lip paint ended up being a lot more lighter than I thought, but I think it can be pulled off if mixed with something else. I also have a deluxe sample size of a Too Faced Waterproof Better Than Sex Mascara on the way, along with a Boscia Baby Foot Peel coming. Its under $40 for everything, so hopefully I can keep myself away from ordering anything else. What a bad habit!

Have you seen this Colourpop Crushed Crystal Collection? They are Crystal Priming & Setting Sprays, Crystal Liquid Highlighters and Crystal Balms. I'll be passing on the collection because I need a no buy, but they look cute!

~ six ~
I received this Influenster Spring Vibes Voxbox, and as part of the campaign I have to share it on my blog! I was planning on doing a full review of everything on its own, but I'm running out of time, so I'm quickly sharing it here! - And I must disclose, I got it free - but all opinions are my own!

The impress nails apply so easily, all you do is match them up to your natural nail size... cleanse your nail with the provided alcohol wipe, peel off the sticker on the back of the nails, and apply. Voila! You have an at home manicure! I like how easily they apply but I dislike how they don't sit fully flush with your nails.

The Nivea Body Oil is great! It absorbs so quickly into the skin, and never leaves behind an oily or greasy feeling to your skin. I haven't seen a change in any stretch marks, or firming, but it does make your skin feel lovely and moisturized, so on that alone, I will keep using it!

The Nescafe Instant Coffee packets are good too! They are creamy like they advertise, which is surprising because all you add is water. I enjoyed the French Vanilla flavour more then the Original flavour, but both were good. These are good to have on hand when you can't make coffee!

Drunk Elephant Skincare

If you saw my Sephora VIB sale goodies, then you would have seen that I picked up both the Rise + Glow set, and Night Bright set from Drunk Elephant. Both of these sets are skincare duos that work with one another. One for daytime use, and the other for nighttime use.

ISA Professional - Digital Titanium Flat Iron Hair Straightener

As some of you may know, my hair is naturally wavy. Sometimes the pieces try and curl, other times it looks wavy. My hair is also long, and thick. So in the summer, I tend to try and stay away from heat tools because it's just too hot to be fussing over my hair. I'll end up putting some curl defining product, or leave in conditioner and letting it air dry all on its own. ISA Professional reached out to me, and wanted to send me one of their hair straighteners. I own a CHI, but it's about 12 years old now, and while it still works - I feel like sometimes it's just not as a good as it used to be. So I took ISA Professional up on their offer, and they sent me their Digital Titanium Flat Iron Hair Straightener. Which arrived very quickly I must add.
