Topbox - October 2017

Topbox is probably the most affordable subscription service that I have ever subscribed to. It's only $12 a month, which means in Ontario it only comes to $13.56 after taxes. Super affordable. Especially for those who aren't looking to spend too much, while getting to try new brands. They usually only send sample sized products, and a lot of skincare. There generally isn't a theme of the month either, but it's always a great surprise.

Each month we are given the opportunity to wish for a prive box. What that is, is a box featuring a specific brand. First let's take a look at what our prive options were for October.

CBB Secret Santa 2017 Gift Exchange!

This year for the holiday season, fellow Canadian Beauty Bloggers decided to run another Secret Santa gift exchange! I haven't participated every year, and last year was my first time, you can see what I got here. I had a great swap in 2016 so when it came up for 2017, I said yes right away. Again there was a $30 minimum value that was agreed upon, and we all had to send out gifts out by December 8th. On Elfster you can create a wishlist for products you were interested in. We had no idea who would send us our gift, or what we would get, which made it really fun!

Burt's Bees - Gift Sets

It's always hard to come up with gifts for certain people. But do you know someone who loves to pamper themselves? I'm sure we all do. Well, Burt's Bees comes to the rescue with some of their sets, just in time for the Holiday season. I was able to get two different sets and share them with you.

Today I'm sharing some new skincare sets that were released at Sephora from Fresh.

Another month has come and gone, and it's already the end of November. Or beginning of December when you read this! I can't believe we're getting so close to the end of 2017, this year feels like it went by so quickly. Pretty soon Christmas will be here, as will New Years Eve.. and then we will be in 2018!  Anyway, it's time to collect the beauty trash, and see what I've used up for the month of November.

Boxycharm - October 2017

Boxycharm is a subscription box service, that sends full size and deluxe sample size items to you each month. I've noticed majority of the time, you will get full sized products, and you receive 5 each month. It is $21 USD a month, plus shipping. There are discounts if you sign up for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. I originally signed up for 3 months, and it renewed for another 3 months automatically. Everyone generally gets the same box each month, with a few variations such as lipstick colours. Or a lipstick vs lip gloss. That being said, let's take a look at what I received for my October Boxycharm!

November 21, 2017

Bite Beauty - Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Mauvember (2017)

For the third year in a row, Bite Beauty has teamed up with The Movember Foundation to create a custom Mauvember shade just for Sephora. This year, the shade is available in their coveted Multistick and Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick formulas. I decided I would try the liquified lipstick version because I have been wanting to try one since they were released, and I figured Mauvember would be a great colour to try it with.

Sunday Riley - Power Couple Duo: Total Transformation Kit

Halloween with Dermalogica!

Dermalogica is releasing a new product in their skincare lineup - Precleanse balm! I'm a huge fan of cleansing balms, and the double cleanse method - so when I was contacted to try Dermalogica's Double Cleanse campaign, how could I say no? And what a better time to put this new balm to the test, Halloween! Whether you're dressing up, or your kids are, that makeup is difficult to remove at the end of the night. You don't want to fight with it, and you definitely don't want any of that makeup left behind. Enter - Dermalogica Precleanse balm!

Glam Sense and Topbox recently sent out another campaign, and this time it was for Roger and Gallet products! I had never heard of the brand, but found out that they were founded in Paris in 1862! They were just picked up by Sephora recently, which explains why we were able to try out these products.

Um, first of all. Happy September? I was starting to write August in the title, and had to correct myself to September. How did that happen!? I'm sad that the year is coming to an end, and so is summer, but I'm also really looking forward to Fall and everything to do with Fall. We also have Labour Day on Monday, which means it's a day off from work, and a long weekend!

Sephora Favorites - Summer Hair Saviors

I'm always looking for sample sized products for my hair. I find when I have full size items, I never really finish them. Plus, I'm on the hunt for products that helps hydrate my hair, and helps bring out my natural wave without weighting down my hair, or making it look greasy. When this Sephora Favorites - Summer Hair Saviors kit popped up on the website, I had to give it a shot. Plus, I really loved the bag that came with it. There was also a $15 dollar off coupon that had gone out, so this made it easier to purchase.

It Cosmetics - It's All About You! Customer Favourites 4 Piece Collection [First Impressions]

Someone in one of the makeup groups I'm in, posted that The Shopping Channel was having a great deal on this bundled package of It Cosmetics products. It contained a 4 piece collection, of customers favourites. I haven't tried much from them, but I've heard amazing things about the original CC Cream, so I decided to take the plunge and ordered this set.

RealHer - Eyeshadow Palette 1 (Be Your Own Kind Of Beauty)

Every Boxycharm subscriber received a RealHer Eyeshadow Palette in their June box. I received palette 1 (along with many other Canadians) which is named Be Your Own Kind Of Beauty. I've never tried RealHer shadows before, so I was excited to give this palette a try! I came up with three different looks.

We decided to go away on Thursday night (we're still away) to visit my BF's family cottage and Thursday was beautiful. We went down to the beach to see the sunset, and I managed to spot a baby turtle! He was so cute! The sunset was very pretty. Today is a little cooler and much more cloudy. I think there may be a storm later. We haven't decided if we will stay another night or head back tonight. It's always so relaxing when we come.

I think I posted last week that I had a job interview, and I had to go through an agency to get it. It's been an annoying process, and in the future I will try my hardest to never use one again. I didn't want to use one this time around but that's how it managed to work out. Anyway, I actually got the job and I will be starting on Monday morning. I'm not too happy because it will be an hour by bus, but what can I do.

I got an email this morning saying Sephora is giving rouge 4x the points on purchases until August 15. I more than likely will not be purchasing anything. I'm trying to hold off on buying anything from Sephora until the vib sales towards the end of the year. I don't really need anything yet. Although I know that sweet peach collection that drops will probably get one purchase from me.

Today marks the 8 year anniversary of my papa (grandfather) passing. It doesn't feel like it's been so long, but at the same time it feels like forever. He was only 69 when he passed, which is not that old. We all miss him everyday, and we certainly missed him at my cousin's wedding in July. They made a little tribute to those who have passed and couldn't be with us to attend the wedding, it was really nice. But of course a few tears were shed.

We are still doing the low carb way of eating. We stopped off at a store called Low Carb Canada on Thursday and grabbed some low carb tortillas (we love these!) And we are going to give something new a try.. zeroodles rice and pasta. I have no idea how they taste, but hopefully they are good! I don't miss rice too much, but I miss bread. Those substitutes don't taste very good so I just avoid them. It will be interesting to see how these noodles/rice are.

I'm writing this from my phone so formatting is hard. I hope this came out okay! Have a good weekend!

As always, empties are my favourite kind of post, I like being able to see what I used up, and I love reading/watching other peoples empties posts/videos. My cousins wedding has come and gone, and now I have one less thing to look forward to lol. The ceremony was held outside infront of this gazebo. There was a little pond/lake behind, and everything was so beautiful. The reception was beautiful as well.

Dior Rouge - The New Lipstick - Swatches

I received this as one of my free samples from Sephora back in December. I had a whole post typed out, and then something happened and I lost it all. Like, the post deleted itself. I was mad, and I just never typed it all up again (it was so long) - but I received this when I managed to get my Nars blush for hitting VIB Rouge, and I picked the Fresh duo for my birthday gift. It took all my might not to break into the packaging the same day and try it out! So here we finally are. Trying out the Dior Rouge - The New Lipstick matte lipstick samples!

The Body Shop - Vitamin E - Intense Moisture Serum

I'm always on the hunt for good skincare! I had run out of my previous serum and decided I wanted to give another brand a try. Now I don't find that serums make a huge difference in the look of my skin, but it does make my skin feel hydrated if I use one. Plus, I like to think it keeps some of the moisture in my dry skin when layered with other products. The Body Shop was having a huge sale on at the time, so I added this Vitamin E - Intense Moisture Serum to my cart, and gave it a try as soon as it arrived.

It's wedding day! My cousin is getting married today, and I'm super excited for them, and to see my extended family! It seems like the time has just flown by since they announced their engagement. It should be a fun night!

I ended up going to get my hair fixed on Tuesday. I had tried many methods of toning it, including Wella toners with 20 developer, using a semi-permanent ultra violet hair dye mixed with hair conditioner, purple shampoo, blue shampoo, and I just couldn't beat the brassy tones. I had enough. I ended up going to Marca College (it's a school for students who are interested in becoming hair dressers) and I managed to get a well informed student. I went in as soon as they opened, because they don't take appointments. The student knew exactly what I was there for just by looking at my hair. She added in some highlights, and blended the "balayage"/ombre that was in the ends. She mixed a few different toners, and then chopped some hair off. It's not as white/icy as I would like, but I'm still so happy with how it turned out. I will need to bleach my hair more to get lighter, but I'm good for now. I will upload some photos for next week's Five on Friday that are from the wedding, and show my updated hair. It took her 5 hours, but I'm so happy it's fixed up.

Remember the baby foot peel I posted about last week? Well it took a few days to actually work really well, and wow! I'm surprised at the amount of skin that came off. I know that sounds disgusting! I didn't think my feet were too bad, besides the heels were a little rough. But this removed everything. My feet feel so smooth! I will say, that it didn't really start to peel until the Friday (I had applied on the Monday). And although the instructions don't include this, you really need to soak your feet every day, even if it's only for 2 minutes. It really helps lift the skin. I'm so impressed, I'll definitely look into purchasing it again in the future.

I was picked recently for a few different campaigns. One is for a Lancome mascara, another for Schwarzkopf blonde enhancing shampoo/mask (which couldn't have come at a better time!), and then I was also accepted for some food too! So delicious cashew milk ice cream, Good & Simple Bars and Muffins, and Three Farms Roasted Chick Peas. I'll be doing separate reviews on the makeup/hair items.. I can do a quick little post about the food too when I get a chance to try them all.

I had another interview yesterday (Thursday) and it went really well. I actually worked at this business just before I left to help my boyfriend with his family's store. I worked there for almost 2 years, and left on good terms. If you've been following me for awhile, then you know that I have been looking for employment for a few months. It's just by fluke that I had seen the job ad posted and I recognized the business name. I sent my resume in, and luckily they called me in for an interview. By the sounds of things, they are interested in re-hiring me, but they need to complete a few other interviews. I will find out for sure on Wednesday, so I've got my fingers crossed. A couple of the past employees gave them some good words about me (they told me in the interview) which made me happy. I hope it works out!

Sorry for the lack of photos this week! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face and Body Foundation - Glamsense Campaign

Glamsense is anotherprogram where you can sign up (for free) and review makeup and skincare products. They are similar to ChickAdvisor and Influenster. Glamsense is run by the same people as Topbox is, and they seem to have campaigns quite frequently, which is awesome. You're not always picked for campaigns, but when you do get one, it's a nice surprise. They are always full size products, and you get a decent amount of time to try the products out. This time, people were chosen to try out the new Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face and Body Foundation. I luckily was picked, and all we had to do was provide a small review on Instagram, showing our initial application of the foundation, and then an after photo when we had worn it all day. I decided to give it a few trys, and to put a full review on my blog as well, because I have some thoughts on this foundation!

This L'Oreal Infallible foundation received a lot of hype when it first came out. Especially the original matte version. Once I heard there was a "glow" version, I decided I needed to give it a try. Plus it was available at Walmart, which made it easy to grab when running errands!
