October 2016 - Empties!

October went by so quickly! I feel like I say this every month! If you've been with me since the beginning, then you know that I love my empties posts! I like looking back at what I've used for the month, and I love reading other peoples reviews on items that they have completely finished! Enough rambling, let's get into the empties!

My mission each month is to use up as much as I can. I have so many items that just keep piling up. I wanted to make October "use up all the samples" month, but I didn't go through as many as I wish I could have. But that just means November will be now "use up all the samples" month, and I think I will encourage myself more by putting them in a place where I will be forced to see them, and will remember to use them. Anyway, let's get more into detail about what I've used!

Macee Leigh - Pumpkin Masque - Glycolic Enzyme Peel
I purchased this a while ago. Like way longer then I should have held onto this masque. But I tried not to reach for it too often because I didn't want to damage my skin by using a peel or glycolic acid too frequently. This smelled like pumpkin pie filling, and I did find it made my skin very smooth after using it. I liked it, but I'm not sure I liked it enough that I would purchase this exact mask again, but it did do a good job.

Fresh - Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment
This is just a fancy lip balm. I got it as a 3 pack (the little bubble in the top right hand side) with the red (rose), a nude, and a clear balm. I finally got around to trying this one and I really liked it. It's thick without being too thick, and it really hydrates the lips. This one was red so it did have a little rosy tone to it once applied. I really liked it and would consider purchasing one in the future. Maybe once I go through my lifetime supply of lip balms lol.

Cerave - Hydrating Cleanser Bar
Just a sample of a bar of soap. It was nice and creamy. No scent. Not an exciting product, but I used it and enjoyed it. Not sure if I would repurchase this though just because I enjoy body wash more, and I'm not a fan of bar soaps for the face.

TheFaceShop - Seaweeds Moisturizing Pack
This is just a sleep pack. I really liked it, and the sample lasted quite a while for me. A very generous size. I enjoy sleep packs that are like this one - more of a cream. I'm using a gel like sleep pack right now and I'm not enjoying it. But this one provided great hydration without being too heavy. I'd consider repurchasing this in the future.

Delectable - Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream in Coconut and Cream
This stuff smells amazing! It definitely was nourishing. It was creamy, it smelled great, hydrating without being too heavy, and it absorbed quickly into the skin. I really liked this! And the sample size was so generous. This lasted me a few months. Even with use on my hands and body.

First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Cream
I tried this in the past a few years ago, and I really didn't like it. I didn't find that it was hydrating enough for my skin, and it had so much praise online. I ended up getting it in my skin favourites Sephora pack from the beginning of the year, and finally pulled it out a few months ago to give it another try. I ended up using it as just a day cream, but applied very very lightly. If I ever used a heavy hand, then it would pill on my skin, and make applying makeup a nightmare. I would say this would probably be okay for someone with combination skin, but I still don't find it hydrating enough for my dry skin. It did okay under makeup when applied lightly, but I'm not convinced enough to buy a full size.

Dr. Jart - Ceramidin Cream
Ugh. This is also way past its day, but still applied just as it did on day one, and didn't give off a funky smell. When I did use it, I never had a bad reaction to it either. It smelled medicinal. It did make my skin feel good when I remembered to use it, but I remember it being expensive when I purchased it a long time ago, so I tried not to reach for it too often because I didn't want to waste it. What kind of mentality is that. I have so many products yet don't want to use them sometimes because I don't want to finish it. I need to stop that. Anyway, I did like it when I had it, but only layered. I used it mostly at night to add an extra layer of hydration, but I wouldn't repurchase it again.

Too Cool For School - Pumpkin Sleeping Pack
I received a few of these little samples of the pumpkin sleeping pack with some k-beauty orders. I kind of just tossed them into my skincare drawer and forgot about them. I ended up going away for a few days and took one with me to limit the abundance of skin care needed to be packed. This was a great sleep pack! It was somewhat creamy, but a little bit of a gel texture. It was more on the thicker side, but I really like that! It didn't really smell or look like pumpkin, but that's okay. My skin felt really hydrated and nourished in the morning and I will seriously consider purchasing a full size when I get through some other sleep packs that I have!

Equate - Multi-Purpose Solution
This is just contact lens solution. Nothing exciting, but we got through a full bottle. We usually stay away from brands we aren't entirely sure about, because we know what we like, and they usually don't live up to those. But this Equate solution came in a two pack for less than $10, and our usual brands were sold out or not on sale. We decided to give this a chance and we actually really like it. It doesn't dry out our contacts, or my eyes. So I would say we will probably repurchase this again when we run out of the second bottle. Unless the really good stuff is on sale, haha.

Scentsy Wax Bar - Perfectly Pomegranate
This one of the first bars I ever purchased. Seriously. The first 3 bars I bought included this one, and I've had it in my stash since 2012! It still had a great scent throw to it, and I really liked this fruity pomegranate scent. This is a part of the usual line up, so I will probably repurchased this at some point in the future, but I have a million other bars to get through before I go back to get this one!

Revlon - UniqOne Coconut Hair Treatment
This smelled great! It made my hair look shiny, but honestly this sample wasn't enough to make me notice a change in my hair. I got maybe 2 or 3 uses out of it. Smells great, but didn't wow me enough to go run out and buy a full size. Plus, I have so many hair treatments (oils, masks) to get through, that I'm glad at least one is gone.

Now I won't go too much into detail about this foil samples, just because they aren't exciting and they're foils.

Real Nature - Face Masks in Lemon and Rice
The rice mask is one of my favourites, I find it to be so nourishing for my dry skin. The lemon really helped brighten my skin too. Both had a great amount of essence like always. I will definitely be repurchasing these in the future.

Bliss - Lemon + Sage Body Butter
This was definitely moisturizing. I wasn't a huge fan of the lemon or sage scent, but it wasn't terrible. I got about 3 uses out of this foil and that was on my whole body, so it was a fair amount. I wouldn't repurchase this as a full size, just because I never really buy body lotions. I always seem to have samples. But it was a good product.

Biore - Nose Strip
I love these little nose strips! Always gross but exciting to see what comes out! I might repurchase these in the future. I'm sure they aren't too great to constantly be using on your skin, so I would limit my use.

Bliss - That's Incredi-Peel Resurfacing Pads
These say they are a spa-strength glycolic resurfacing pad. They are pretty much a makeup wipe that are exfoliating. I did find they made my skin look smooth after using them, but they did make my face red, and did sting a little. But that was kind of expected with a "resurfacing" pad for your face. At least I assumed. Anyway, I did like them, although I don't think I would use them often enough to justify buying them.

Skyn Iceland - Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels
These are supposed to be worn for 10 minutes and will cool and de-puff your under eyes. I found them to be a little uncomfortable. They made my skin feel like it was burning a little, and I just found it did nothing for my under eye area. I wouldn't purchase these in the future.

Now these last 3 products are tosses.

Younique - Lucrative Lip Gloss in Loveable
This is a very light pink. Too light for me. It's just a gloss, nothing spectacular. Over priced, and not good quality. I used it a couple times, then put it away in my purse. Forgot about it for awhile, found it, and it's really separated. Doesn't smell the greatest anymore, so I decided to just toss it. Waste of money, don't bother purchasing it. I wouldn't buy another again.

Maybelline - Dream Smooth Mousse in Porcelain
There is no way this is a porcelain shade. I loved the mousse texture of this foundation, and I loved how it made my skin look. But does this ever oxidize. The shade was always a tad too dark for me, but if I used it lightly and blended well, it would be okay for the most part. But it does turn orange. I've had this for maybe 2 or 3 years and decided to toss it. It didn't smell bad or apply any differently, but it was time to go. Plus, I purchased a Nars Sheer Glow not too long ago, and really need to start focusing on using one product instead of switching it up every day and never finishing anything.

Macee Leigh - The Face Lift
This is pretty much their version of the makeup eraser. One side is more exfoliating, and the other is softer. Both sides removed makeup really well. I did really like it, but I've had it for awhile, and it seemed like no matter how often I washed it with soap and water, or tossed it in with the laundry, it had started to have that dirty towel smell. I decided I would toss it as soon as the Face Off cloth came, and then I misplaced the Macee Leigh one and finally found it again. So out it goes. I did really enjoy it though.
