Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick

I don't have very many Almay products. Actually, I can say I've tried a total of 3 in my life. I remember buying their tinted moisturizer many years ago - which was way too dark for me. A trio eyeshadow, that I had up until recently, that I used a handful of times, but didn't like because the colours just didn't work for me. You know the one they were advertising for certain eye colours. That one. For green eyes. The colours didn't work for me and I ended up tossing it because it was old.

This past Christmas season, Almay was having a contest where they were giving out free lipsticks. Little did I know I would be picked. They sent out coupons to everyone which expired at the end of June, giving us plenty of time to redeem the coupon and pick the perfect shade. I ended up forgetting I had the coupon and realized I had it just before it expired. So I went and picked out my "smart shade."

Theres no fancy name for this. You go in and they have a chart set up on the display. You look at your skin tone (mine being light) and choose from 3 shades - pink, nude, berry, or red. Being me - I chose pink. Nudes don't work for me, and I'm not a huge fan of red... I'm slowly introducing bolder colours lol. Anyway it was between berry or pink and I figured I'd use pink more often. The colour name for this is "Pink - Light"

Here it is swatched. Not the greatest lighting, but you get the idea. I actually had to go over this about 3 times just to get the shade to show.

As you can see it's very glossy. I'd say this is more of a sheer pigmented lip gloss than it is lipstick. It is very smooth, and "buttery" but the lasting power is not good. It also isn't very pigmented because it's not very noticeable on my lips.

I wouldn't repurchase this in the future. I also was shocked at the regular price. Can you believe the regular price was almost $11 at Shoppers Drug Mart. Crazy! Thank goodness for free coupons!
